TALISMAN

Added to the superstitious use of the Koran as a fortune telling tool, Muslims are known, all over the Islamic world, to make good luck charms of Koranic verses and carry them with them.  The principle is very much the same as the brown scapula and automobile dashboard saints of the Roman Catholic Church.  Where salvation is not by faith, it is always the case that sacred physical objects give the faithful some kind of comfort.
